Background
When dust accumulates, the surfaces of existing mechanical or electrostatic air filters, the narrow interfiber channels clog, resulting in a sharp increase in resistance and a consequential decrease in air flow. This substantially affects the system’s operational efficiency and requires frequent maintenance, cleaning, and replacement of air filters in order to keep the system operating efficiently and effectively.
With pressures — in all markets — to improve air quality, increase efficiency, and reduce costs, there is a clear need for innovative, improved air filters. AirFreedom is positioned to fill this need.
Technology AirFreedom is developing a truly breakthrough air filtration technology with applications in commercial/institutional HVAC systems, gas turbines, transportation and off road vehicles, electronic equipment cooling systems, and potentially residential air conditioning systems. The Company's patent pending technology includes a filter configuration that harnesses a known negative effect in media filters in order to better utilize the filter’s internal space. More dust particles are captured in the filter volume, with minimal obstruction of air flow. The result is significantly slower pressure drop build-up and thereby, increased dust-holding capacity that translates into significantly longer operational life (2-4 fold).
Value Proposition
AirFreedom’s filter provides an efficient, cost effective solution for all in the value chain.
End users: reduced operational costs from less maintenance and fewer filter replacements; greater efficiency from AirFreedom’s increased dust holding capacity
Manufacturers: a differentiator and competitive advantage for cutting costs and meeting new, stringent energy efficiency regulations
Market Size The global indoor air filtration market is estimated at nearly $7 billion (source), with mid-range filters (F5-9) holding the largest share. AirFreedom estimates its potential in the HVAC market alone at 75 million units per year.
AirFreedom’s pre filters can be readily adapted for additional markets including transportation (locomotives and construction equipment), gas turbines, and industrial applications These markets have a strong need for improved filtration and will increase AirFreedom’s potential tremendously.
Business Development
AirFreedom has signed a strategic partnership MOU with a leading global filter manufacturer and is in contact with leading filter manufacturers in the U.S., Europe, China, and India regarding strategic partnership for manufacturing and marketing its technology. Due to the fragmentation in the air filter arena, AirFreedom will partner with different players according to market focus and geographical coverage. The comapny will recieve reveunes from licensing agreements with its partners.
